
On Saturday, July 3rd, 16 Special Olympics athletes, football legends and celebs, took to the pitch at Cape Town stadium for the Special Olympics Unity Cup Presented by Coca-Cola. Keeping with the theme of “unity” the match fittingly ended in a 2-2 draw. All four goals in the match were scored by Special Olympics athletes.

Manolis Tampakakis of Special Olympics Greece & Maicon Santana of Special Olympics Brazil scored first to tie the match at 1-1. Slovenia athlete Miran Brejc scored to score match up 2-1. At the end of the match, Algeria athlete Yacine Zabi scored to tie the match at 2-2 with an amazing scissor kick.

On Friday, July 2nd Special Olympics athletes, celebrities and legendary footballers participated in the practice session of the Unity Cup taking place on Saturday, July 3rd in Cape Town Stadium.
