The Press Conference of the Fifth National Special Olympics Games Held in Beijing  

The Press Conference of the Fifth National Special Olympic Games of PRC was held on Mar. 25, 2010 in Beijing. It reported that all the preparation works for the event are going smoothly.

Conference site

The 5th National Special Olympics Games is to be held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province during Sept 19 – Sept 25, 2010. It is hosted by China Disabled Persons' Federation, General Administration of Sport and Special Olympics China, and undertaken by the People's Government of Fujian Province. According to the Games Organizing Committee, it will be the largest national Special Olympics Games ever held. There will be nearly ten thousand athletes, coaches, volunteers and newsmen gathered in the Games.
 
More than 2000 athletes from all around China as well as from Hong Kong, Macau and Chinese Taipei, will compete in 11 summer sports, i.e., athletics, aquatics, power lifting, table tennis, badminton, roller skating, basketball, football, bocce, judo and bowling. The official invitations were also sent to Korea, Singapore and United States for dispatching the sports delegations.
 
The theme of the Games is “Share Sunshine·You and Me”.The Emblem for the Games is composed of the city flower “Jasmine flower” and the athletes. And “Fulewa” is the Mascot for the Games.
 
SO athletes Li Xiaofan and Lin Hangliang are selected as athletes ambassadors, and the sports celebrities Chen Zhonghe, Shi Zhiyong and He Wenna are invited to be ambassadors of the Games.
