He was abandoned by his parents due to his brain paralysis when he was just a little baby. 15 years later, He won a gold and a bronze for China in the snowshoeing competition at 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games.

The 16-year-old boy, Fu Nanzi, began his athlete life in 2004, when Hainan province sent him as a racing runner to the national games for the disabled. He achieved 2 gold and 2 silver medals and made himself an excellent special olympic athlete.

Now, after he won two medals for China in USA, Nanzi became a local celebrity.

“He could not make a living with medals for his whole life. We hope Nanzi could learn a skill to make a better life.” Deng Guitian, head of Haikou City Social Welfare Institution said. Last summer, Nanzi began his junior middle school learning in Haikou Special Education School. The Welfare Institution is considering to send him to learn computer skill so that he could live independently, and, do something more for the society.
