During Aug.10-12, 2010, Special Olympics East Asia Unified Equestrian Training Camp was Held in Inner Mongolia, China. 46 SO athletes and their partners participated in the 3-day Unified Equestrian Training Camp. Mr. Jia Yong, Board Member of Special Olympics International and Executive Chairman of Special Olympics China, Mr. Huang Jianyi, Sports Director of Special Olympics East Asia and the local DPF leaders attended the Opening Ceremony held on Aug.9. Altogether over 290 people participated in the event.
Mr. Jia Yong acknowledged that Special Olympics movement has built a bridge of communication between people with and without intellectual disabilities. It promotes social harmony and helps those with intellectual disabilities to participate in social activities and to achieve the targets of "equality, participation and sharing".
