Yan-Pui Tsin Appointed as Special Olympics East Asia Managing Director |
|
Yan-Pui Tsin has been appointed as the new Managing Director for Special Olympics East Asia.
Mr Tsin has extensive experience in sports and general administration, in addition to his role as a Special Olympics volunteer. He was the Principal Recreation and Sports Officer in the Government Leisure and Culture Department of Hong Kong for many years. Mr Tsin has also been a special guest lecturer for Chinese sports organizations for sports leaders and coaches in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. He served as Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tennis Foundation and is currently a member of the Sports Institute Board of Hong Kong. More... |

Special Olympics Macau Volunteer: Philippe Wind |

Philippe Wind is a French national and served as the Executive Director of the Macao Water Supply Company. Besides his fluency in French and English, Philippe learned Chinese in order to participate in the local culture. He could a model for Special Olympics volunteers around the world.
"I first learned about Special Olympics through movies and TV programs. There were many celebrities and people with intellectual disabilities publicizing Special Olympics together on TV. At the same time, there was a movie about Down's Syndrome. I was deeply moved by the children with intellectual disabilities in the movie." When Hong Kong Special Olympics (HKSO) was founded in December 1975, it was just a one-day Athletic Meet participated by five hundred athletes. Eddie Jones to Speak at Special Olympics Charity Dinner |

Kerry Sports, Qantas Airways and AustCham Beijing will be bringing Eddie Jones to Beijing for a series of events in early March and have selected Special Olympics as the charity of choice for the charity dinner on March 2.
The dinner will feature the former Australian Rugby Union head coach as the special guest speaker. All proceeds, except for a small appearance fee for Eddie Jones, will be donated to Special Olympics. BHP Billiton has already joined as the title sponsor for this event. Full Story...

American Community Club to host Sneaker Ball benefitting 2007 World Games |
|
The American Community Club (ACC) of Beijing will be hosting a Sneaker Ball to benefit Special Olympics and the 2007 World Games.
Special Olympics athlete Yang Yan delivered a speech to ACC members during a luncheon on January 18 to encourage members to help with the Sneaker Ball committee and to thank the ACC for their wonderful support. Her speech drew much applause from the luncheon attendees and several members signed up to help with the Sneaker Ball as a result.
The Sneaker Ball will be held in Beijing on April 22, 2006. It is the only black-tie formal in Beijing where sneakers are required attire! | |

Backstreet Boys Donate to Special Olympics |

The Backstreet Boys continued their support for Special Olympics by donating tickets to their Beijing concert on January 16.
Special Olympics athletes Yang Yan and Jia Sirui also got the chance to meet Howie backstage before the concert.
Thank you to Emma Entertainment for helping to make this special night possible for our athletes, family and volunteers. Everyone had a great time singing along at the concert! |
