Yan-Pui Tsin has been appointed as the new Managing Director for Special Olympics East Asia.
Mr Tsin has extensive experience in sports and general administration, in addition to his role as a Special Olympics volunteer. He was the Principal Recreation and Sports Officer in the Government Leisure and Culture Department of Hong Kong for many years. Mr Tsin has also been a special guest lecturer for Chinese sports organizations for sports leaders and coaches
in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. He served as Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tennis Foundation and is currently a member of the Sports Institute Board of Hong Kong. Mr Tsin has also been a recognized broadcaster for the Olympics on HK TVB for many years. He has a long history with Special Olympics as a volunteer. He has coached athletes and led coaches courses in Track & Field for over 20 years. Mr Tsin is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Mr Tsin looks forward to continuing the great successes of the East Asia region.
After 3 1/2 years of being the first SOEA Managing Director, George Smith has agreed to take on the role as Special Olympics International's Senior Representative for Fundraising - World Games. Through George's outstanding leadership, the East Asia region achieved many impressive goals, including reaching the regional growth goal of 545,000 new athletes by the end of 2005. Thank you to George for his exceptional work as Managing Director and for his continued commitment to Special Olympics.
Trish Smith will continue as Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for World Games.
