Sponsor Spotlight: Timken |
|
The Timken Company's China operation, led by James Gresh (President of Timken China), has become Special Olympics East Asia's newest sponsor with a hugely generous grant of US$45,000! Special Olympics' various education initiatives made a deep impression on executives at Timken China. The US$45,000 grant will be used towards SO Get Into It (SOGII) and the Model University Project.
Timken's kind gift will allow the SOGII curriculum, which teaches K-12 students in regular education settings to be the difference in learning values of inclusion, tolerance, and respect, to be launched in international schools in China. Continue... |

Volunteer Spotlight: Richard Liu |
|
(in his own words...) March to May 18 – 20 in 2000: this was when it all began for me with Special Olympics. I was both a Special Olympics International (SOI) Volunteer and the Vice-Chair of the Torch Run Committee for the Special Olympics China Millennium March (SOCMM), leading a team of volunteers to prepare for the very first Great Wall Torch Run in which Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the SOI Goodwill Ambassador, would run up a flight of ancient steps to light a cauldron signaling the start of the Special Olympic movement in China towards 2007. Meeting both Mr. Tim Shriver and Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger forever left a deep impression on me for Special Olympics. More... |
