Special Olympics Korea joined the Special Olympics East Asia region in February 2005. The program currently has over 7,000 athletes, up by 66% over the 4,308 athletes recorded at the end of 2004.
Special Olympics Korea athletes train and compete in Aquatics, Alpine Skiing, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Cycling, Figure Skating, Football, In-Line Skating, Powerlifting, Speed Skating, Table Tennis and Tennis.
Mr. Woo Kee-Jung was invited to be the new chairman of Special Olympics Korea during the Board Meeting on May 24 2005.
