The second meeting of the Special Olympics East Asia Translation Committee occurred during September 13 – 16 in Shanghai, China. Representatives from Special Olympics China, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, and China sub-Program Shanghai, as well as the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games Executive Committee (GEC) gathered to discuss, translate and review issues pertaining to the translation of SOI documents. The Committee was organized during the 2003 Regional Advisory Committee meeting as a means of identifying regional translation needs and ensuring that Special Olympics related terms were standardized and a common lexicon developed. The Sports Rules remain high on the translation priority list due to the approaching 2006 Special Olympics China National Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang province and the 2007 World Games in Shanghai.
