(October, 2003) The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation recently awarded Special Olympics East Asia $45,000.  The announcement, which came after the conclusion of the Foundation's board conference, is a welcome piece of news for the growing Special Olympics East Asia Unified Sports program.  The Foundation has been a strong supporter of Special Olympics, donating $40,000 in 2003 to launch the Unified Sports program in China.  The grant will continue to be used for the development and expansion of Unified Sports in the region.  In the past, Laureus Academy members have traveled to Shanghai and Beijing to promote Special Olympics by bringing attention to the organization, its athletes, and the Movement as a whole.
