Over RMB 15,000 was raised for Special Olympics China on October 25 – 26, 2003 during the Shanghai Racquet Club Charity Tennis Tournament. The funds will benefit the Special Olympics Shanghai athlete development program.
The exciting tournament included players, novice to experienced, in competitions of singles, doubles and mixed doubles in A, B and C divisions.
Chairman Wang, representing Special Olympics China, Shanghai division delivered a speech about the recent events that Special Olympics have had around the world, and what the funds raised from the tournament will be put towards. In addition to Chairman Wang, four Shanghai athletes who represented China at the Special Olympics Summer Games 2003 in Ireland in May were at the awards ceremony, along with two coaches. Several of the athletes displayed their medals that they won at the games.

During the awards ceremony, Chairman Wang presented the trophies and certificates to the players. Following the awards ceremony, Lilian Tan, SRCA Resident Manager, presented the check to Chairman Wang for over RMB 15,000 for the funds raised from the tournament.
The final event of the tournament was the lucky draw, from which many members took away wonderful prizes. The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of the following companies:
