On May 6-9, 2008, Special Olympics East Asia and Special Olympics China held a FSN and Young Athletes Program Seminar in Nanchang, Jiangxi province. Over 50 people attended the seminar, including Jiangxi DPF leaders, Special Olympics East Asia staff, Special Olympics China staff and the trainees, who are parents, special schools teachers, community centers workers and young athletes.

The seminar is donated by Mattel. Special Olympics East Asia and Special Olympics China staff and trainers gave lectures to the trainees on SO history, non-sports projects, Young Athletes program and community development. All the family members were keen to know the Special Olympics information and attended every section of the training including Young Athletes demonstration.

At the section of family leaders electing, 3 family members from different regions were elected as family leaders by the participating families. They expressed that they would work hard for the families with ID people.

SOEA will also hold FSN and Young Athletes Program Seminar in Guizhou (May 26-29), Zhengzhou (June 9-12) and Beijing (June 16-19).
