NBA Jam Van's First Ever Tour to China Features Special Olympics Athletes

Beijing, Oct 1 – Jam Van, the NBA's premiere interactive touring program, made its first ever overseas tour to China this year. Its final stop was a three day stint in Beijing which began at Worker's Stadium, one of Beijing 's most popular outdoor venues. On Saturday, October 1 st , NBA legend Robert Parrish - along with several members of the New York Knicks' Dance Squad - joined 20 Special Olympics athletes from China for an exciting day of basketball fun. Teamed together with members of local international schools, as well as participants from the crowd, the Special Olympics athletes took part in a Unified Sports basketball shooting competition.

Spurred on by the encouragement of Robert Parrish and the Knicks' Dancers, as well as an enthusiastic crowd, the athletes displayed remarkable ability and determination. Some of the athletes even had an opportunity to team up with Parrish during the competition. After the competition Robert Parrish graciously took time to present the first, second and third place prizes as well as pose for photos and sign autographs for the athletes. The dedication of the NBA and its sponsors to the Special Olympics movement made this event a phenomenal success and one which the athletes will never forget.
