Special Olympics East Asia Holds Its First GMS Training Seminar

Hong Kong, March 25, 2005 - Special Olympics East Asia began its first Games Management System (GMS) training seminar on March 25, 2005 in Hong Kong. Representatives from Special Olympics programs in Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and Macau all attended the seminar, as well as Special Olympics Korea, which recently joined the East Asia region.

It was an honor to invite Mr Reuben Silva, the Sports Technologies Manager of Special Olympics, to lead the training seminar. All of the attendees found the two day training course to be very interesting, informative and practical. Ms Fay Ho, National Director of Special Olympics Hong Kong said that she had not come across such an inspired Special Olympics course for a while. The seminar concluded on March 28 with the attendees looking forward to an advanced GMS training seminar in the future.

GMS

The Games Management System (GMS) is an IT application which is used to assist the administrative management of competitions by completing divisioning, scheduling finals and producing results. It provides the user with a tool to manage athletes, coaches, unified partners and other individuals associated with Special Olympics Games. With GMS users can track athletes' medical information and qualifications and coach certifications. GMS also allows you to run status reports, such as expired medicals, which sports coaches are certified in, along with competition- related reports.
