The Canadian Alumni Network (CAN) , co-founded by Richard N. Liu and Andy H. Truong, celebrated its one year anniversary on October 19. To celebrate this occasion, CAN hosted a Canadian Thanksgiving fundraising dinner, sponsored by Sun Life Everbright Insurance Company. CAN donated the US$1200 raised to Special Olympics National Sports Development Program. The generosity of CAN will help Special Olympics China introduce sailing as a new sport in China. CAN has also pledged to continue their support leading up to the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai . Special Olympics athlete and Special Olympics East Asia employee Yang Yan (Judy) was also present at the celebration to receive the donation. Richard has been an especially passionate contributor to Special Olympics. In addition to numerous other activities, he has been an active member of our annual Winter Gala committee for the past 3 years, and began with Special Olympics as a volunteer during the preparation for the Millenium March with Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2000.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Ambassador Joseph Caron and Mrs Kumru Caron for their continuous support of Special Olympics. They have stayed active as friends of Special Olympics, including their involvement in the Canadian Charity Ball.
Canadians are known for their good hearts and this holds true for those residing in China ! Thank you for all your generous donations to our programs in China !
