The Beijing Sports University hosted a seminar on Special Olympics for its physical education students and faculty on 19 November. Managing Director of Special Olympics East Asia, George Smith, and the National Director of Special Olympics China, Yong Zhijun, provided an overview of both the global Movement and the development of Special Olympics China. Former Special Olympics International Global Messenger Jia Sirui also addressed the students and faculty. This event is part of the University Initiative launched last year in China, which aims to provide university-level physical education students with a specialized adapted physical education curriculum as well as instruction on the development of local Special Olympics Programs.
