Beijing Haidian Special School Wins in Laureus "All Players Win" Competition

Invited by the SO sponsor, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, SOEA took part in the "All Players Win" competition. On behalf of and appointed by SOEA, Beijing Haidian Special School participated in this event and successfully won the fourth place. The aim of the competition was for the children to fill the Project Box with stories of their daily lives during the project period. The winners' composition would be displayed in the Project Gallery section of the Laureus Exhibition.

The Project Box

When the big box for "All Players Win" Project of Laureus Sport for Good Foundation went across the oceans and arrived at Beijing Haidian Special School, it was just the time that everyone in the school was busy with preparing the ceremony to celebrate the establishment of their new campus. All teachers and students were engaged with important assignments. Therefore, the big box was just left in the corner of the Moral Education Office untouched in the first two days. But whenever looked at it, the children were more and more attracted to it and were eager to open it.

The day came to open the Box! Two tutors repeatedly read the operation directions. The Laureus exhibition Project required teamwork and cooperation of teachers and students instead of acting alone. To comply with the rules, the tutors set a thorough and feasible operation plan which drew great interest of teachers and students.

Children expressively utilized the offered tools in every possible way. They designed a team flag with unique Chinese style. Against the splendid colorful pattern, the team slogan, "I play, I choose, I'm healthy, I'm happy", was very impressive. It reflected the students' shining and genuine spirit. SO athletes leader Gu Yeming wove a Fuwa, mascot of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, with crystal beads, expressing his best wishes to the Olympic Games. Tian Libao and his friends stuck their DIY Chinese knots to the inner side of the Project Box. They also made cards and wrote on them various wishes such as hoping the Laureus project a complete success; people in Sichuan earthquake area be brave and strong to rebuild home; Joyful and peaceful life for everyone; a world without disaster and war forever. Children drew many paintings with color pens and Chinese-painting paints, and wrote diaries about their studies and lives for more friends to know. And the teachers and students worked out together a rich and distinctive project proposal with carefully selected photos and art clippings whose contents included "our favorite SO events", "our coaches", "my favorite sport", "our team", etc. They also signed names on old T-shirts to encourage each other. Under the SO spirit, "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt", everyone vigorously participated in the activities of the Laureus Exhibition Project.

In addition, the Project team recorded the whole process of the event with digital camera and edited the video into 2 CD formats for both TV and computer. The CDs were submitted to the organizing committee for their better understanding of the joy and achievements brought to the children by SO and special education.

As it's said in the project direction that every participant is a winner, teachers and students of Beijing Haidian Special School fully enjoyed the victories of this project as they found and realized that their ideas, creations and work were so excellent. They were indeed so outstanding!
