Madam. Tang Xiaoquan Sends Messages of Condolence over Death of Mrs. Shriver

 Aug. 12, 2009

Dear Chairman Shriver,

I am greatly shocked and in great sorrow on hearing the sudden passing of your mother Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founder of the Special Olympics. Mrs. Shriver is a person of vision, passion and the most important---love. Her determination and efforts to the Special Olympics not only inspires people with intellectual disabilities to strive for victory but also teaches the whole world to know there is no physical or mental barrier for people to achieve success. With her contribution, Special Olympics World Summer Games 2007 in Shanghai gained great accomplishment. I am truly grateful to the support she rendered us and especially the spirit she inspired people of the Special Olympics here in China.

I would like to express my condolence to you on behalf of China Foundation for Disabled Persons. Though I know it is a great loss to you and your family, I sincerely hope that you can restrain your grief and recover from it soon.

Sincerely yours,

Tang Xiaoquan

Vice Chairperson of China Disabled Persons' Federation,

President of China Foundation for Disabled Persons
