Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition throughout the world in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with mental disabilities. There are over 190 million people in the world with intellectual disabilities, of which more than 2.25 million experience Special Olympics' life enhancing sports activities. Special Olympics is presently developing several projects on an international scope, including the Special Olympics Get Into It (SO Get Into It) curriculum, Healthy Athletes, the Athlete Leadership Program and the Family Forum. Special Olympics China has also started an Adopt-a-School program.
